Bracket fungus, oiled/sealed
Visitors to the gallery were invited to ask Marcus questions that preoccupy them and struggle to answer themselves. This sculpture is his answer to one of these questions:
To what extent can I blame Margaret Thatcher?
Marcus located this bracket fungus from a park in Liverpool. The bracket fungus is the fruiting body of a network that lives unseen within the tree. The fungus appears once the tree's health is weakened. It's unsure whether the fungus contributed to the eventual death of its host tree.
