Migration conference for birds, 2017
Many birds are returning to western Europe at this time of year, migrating back from countries in Africa where they spent the winter. Marcus staged a Bird Migration Conference in front of the station entrance. A large table was occupied by 5 seated volunteer delegates, who took on the roles of an arctic tern, a nightingale, a swift, a robin and a cuckoo. As birds they discussed their difficulties around migration and what they needed help with from human society, they also discussed their attitude toward nationality, territory, breeding and their relationship to humans.
Each delegate had a microphone so that the conversation was audible to the public entering and leaving the station.
